What changed in version 3.0Velora is now Nookara (nookara.cc and ember.nookara.cc). These Terms now cover Ember, Ember servers, bots and the Hyperfocus launcher. Sign-up asks for your birthday, and the minimum age is 13, or higher where your country requires it. Also new: how Nookara Pro billing and its 3-day refund window work, game refunds, countries and regions where Nookara isn't available, what staff can do, how private messages and DM reports are handled, and the Ember Server Operator Terms. Deleting your account is instant and permanent.

1. About Nookara and these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Ikelene (Natalie H.), an individual based in Alberta, Canada, who operates Nookara ("Nookara", "we", "us"). By using any part of Nookara, you agree to these Terms.

Nookara is an account and services platform at nookara.cc. It provides sign-in, cloud storage, credits, messaging and social features for Scratch, TurboWarp and PenguinMod projects and other apps, plus Nookara's own apps: Ember (chat, servers, voice and video at ember.nookara.cc and in the Ember desktop and Android apps), the Hyperfocus game launcher and its game store, and Nookara's own games and tools, such as Badge Arcade, Pushmo, SOMNILINK, The Reactor, the Nookara Editor, the Nookara PenguinMod extension and the Nookara Python library.

Nookara used to be called Velora. Accounts and agreements made under that name continue under these Terms, which also cover the older addresses velora.ikelene.net and velora.ikelene.dev while they still work. Projects, games and apps made by other people are not part of Nookara, even if they use Nookara sign-in or appear on Nookara's community or featured-projects pages.

Nookara is run by a small team on a best-effort basis. Features, including beta and experimental ones, may change or end. We keep encrypted backups for disaster recovery (see the Privacy Policy), but they can't be used to undo your own deletions, so keep your own copies of anything important.

2. Who can use Nookara

Minimum age. You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if that is higher (for example 16 in some European countries).

Your birthday. When you sign up, we ask for your birthday. The minimum age is set by the country your connection comes from when you sign up; if we can't tell, it is 13. If you're under the minimum age, sign-up is refused. Your birthday is only visible to you, in your settings, and staff only see your age. You can't change your birthday yourself: if it's wrong, ask for a correction through nookara.cc/support. Giving a false birthday breaks these Terms.

Older accounts. Accounts created before birthdays were required can't use Ember or DMs until a birthday is added.

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under the minimum age, we delete the account and its data. If you think this has happened, tell us at [email protected]. To join Nookara staff, you must be at least 16.

Where Nookara is available. Nookara isn't available in some countries and regions. To prevent abuse, we may also block some VPNs, proxies and hosting networks. Using a VPN or anything similar to get around a country or region restriction isn't allowed, and can lead to your account being closed.

You can't use Nookara if we have permanently banned you, unless we reinstate you.

3. Your account

Give accurate sign-up information, keep your password and sessions safe, and take responsibility for what happens on your account. Nookara will never ask for your password or session token.

You can sign in with, or link, GitHub, Discord or Fluxer, and you can connect Spotify. Those services' own terms also apply to your use of them.

Staff can create an account for someone without an email address. You'll be asked to accept these Terms and add your birthday when you first sign in. Without an email address, password resets and notices go through staff.

Alt accounts

You can have alt accounts for testing, backups or personal use.

Ban evasionUsing an alt or a new account to get around a ban, suspension or restriction isn't allowed. Any account used this way is permanently removed, and the original penalty may be extended or made permanent.

If your account is compromised, change your password and revoke your sessions from your account page, then contact us.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from your account page. Deletion is instant and permanent: there is no recovery period and no undo. If you have an active Pro subscription, end it first (section 8), or contact us and we'll help. For a full erasure that also covers records linked only to your email address, see the Privacy Policy.

4. Your privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your choices. It is part of these Terms.

5. Content rules

These rules apply to everything on Nookara: profiles, usernames, bios, messages, Ember servers, uploads, temporary files, bots, games and projects. As far as your Nookara account is involved, they also apply on Ember servers and in projects that use Nookara sign-in.

NSFW content: zero toleranceNudity, sexual content or innuendo of any kind, sexual fetish material and "ahegao"-style content are banned everywhere on Nookara, whatever the artistic intent. Borderline content is treated as NSFW.

Also not allowed

You can block other users (except staff) and choose who can send you DMs. Don't use another account, or another person, to contact someone who has blocked you.

6. Moderation, enforcement and appeals

Nookara staff are the owner, Network Administrators and Moderators. Everyone on staff has completed onboarding and signed our staff policy. Depending on their role, staff can:

Staff access to accounts is logged.

Private messages

DMs and group DMs are private between the people in them. They are not end-to-end encrypted: they are stored on our servers in a form we can technically read. Staff tools never show the contents of DMs, apart from reported messages. We only look at a conversation through a report, or when we need to investigate a serious safety or legal issue.

Reporting a message in a DM

You can report any message in a DM or group DM you're part of. The report sends staff a snapshot of the reported message, up to 10 messages before it and 5 after it, and copies of their attachments, so staff can understand what happened. Staff see only that snapshot, never the rest of the conversation, and keep it as evidence with the report. The person you report isn't told who reported them. Only report real problems: false reports made to harass someone or to expose a private conversation break these Terms.

Penalties

ViolationRepeat windowWhat happens
First-Content removed, 24-hour upload restriction, warning recorded
SecondWithin 60 daysContent removed, 10-day upload suspension, account placed under monitoring
ThirdWithin 120 days45-day suspension, uploads reviewed by hand for 90 days afterwards, final warning
SevereImmediatelyPermanent ban, IP and network ban, report to the authorities where applicable
Severe violations (for example CSAM, credible threats of violence, or doxxing that puts someone in danger) can't be appealed. We may skip steps or act directly when a situation calls for it.

Reports. You can report users, bots, messages and content. Good-faith reports are protected from retaliation; false reports meant to harass someone are themselves a violation. Reports may be kept as evidence while a safety or legal matter is open.

Appeals. Appeal within 7 days of a removal, suspension or ban through nookara.cc/support or at [email protected]. We aim to review appeals within 5 business days. If your account is banned, we only email you about the ban, appeals and deletion.

7. Ember

Servers hosted by Nookara. Servers at addresses ending in .nookara.cc run on Nookara's infrastructure. A Starter server is free (one per account); Plus is paid for in credits, in prepaid weeks, and doesn't renew by itself. A Plus server that isn't renewed becomes read-only after a short grace period and is archived after that. Server owners set their own rules on top of these Terms and moderate their server, and Nookara can step in at any time.

Self-hosted servers. Anyone can run their own Ember server and connect it to Nookara sign-in. Self-hosted servers are run by their operators, not by Nookara: we don't control or moderate them, and we can't access, export or delete what you post there. Their operators set their own rules and must have their own privacy notice. When you join one, Nookara shares your basic identity with it (see the Privacy Policy). Misusing your Nookara account on a self-hosted server can still lead to action against your account.

Running a server. If you run a self-hosted server or own a server hosted by Nookara, you must accept the Ember Server Operator Terms. Nookara can remove any server from Nookara sign-in and the Ember directory at any time.

Voice and video. Calls and screen shares are passed through live and aren't recorded by Nookara. Don't record other people without their permission where the law requires it. Some voice channels can be joined by phone through Nookara's phone bridge.

Message signing. Nookara creates a signing key for your account so Ember apps can prove that a message really came from you.

Links and videos. When you share a link, Nookara may fetch it to show a preview. Videos played "through Nookara" are fetched from the original site and cached for a short time, and Pro members can download them for personal use only. You're responsible for the links and media you share and download, and for respecting the rights of their owners.

8. Nookara Pro, credits and payments

Nookara's basic features are free. Nookara Pro is an optional subscription that raises limits and unlocks extra features (see nookara.cc/upgrade). You can pay for it in two ways:

Cancelling. You can cancel a Ko-fi subscription on Ko-fi at any time. Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.

Refunds. You can ask for a refund of a Ko-fi Pro payment within 3 days of that payment, through nookara.cc/support or at [email protected]. If we refund it, Pro for that period ends and all extra credits you received from the Pro daily-credit multiplier in that period are removed. After 3 days, Pro payments aren't refundable, unless the law where you live requires a refund or we end your Pro early for a reason that isn't your fault. Pro paid with credits isn't refundable.

Chargebacks. If you reverse a payment through your bank or card provider, your Pro ends, the extra credits it gave you are removed, and we may restrict your account.

Credits. You earn credits on Nookara, for example through daily claims, achievements, transfers from other users and selling games; Pro on Ko-fi multiplies your daily credits. Credits can't be bought with money, have no real-world value and can't be cashed out, sold or traded outside Nookara's own features. They are a limited permission to use features inside Nookara, not property or a deposit. We may correct balances that came from bugs, fraud or abuse, and we may change or end the credit system, with reasonable notice where we can.

Spending credits. You can spend credits on Pro, hosted servers, games, other users, bots and projects. Every payment or transfer needs your approval, sometimes with a quick captcha. A project or bot can ask for a payment, but the credits only move if you approve it.

9. The game store and Hyperfocus

Hyperfocus is Nookara's desktop game launcher. While you're signed in, it records which games you play and for how long, saves game data to your Nookara storage (cloud saves), and lets games award and remove achievements. Your playtime and achievements may appear on your public profile. Beta versions may be unstable.

Buying games. Some games cost credits. Community games are priced by their developers, and the credits go to the developer. A price change never affects people who already own the game.

Game refunds. You can refund a game from the store or the launcher while your recorded playtime for it is under 30 minutes. A refund returns the credits; your playtime stays on record. Game keys unlock a game for one account and can't be resold.

Community games. Community games are made by other people, who are responsible for them. Staff review games before listing them, but we can't guarantee any game. If you publish or sell a game, you must own or have the rights to everything in it, it must follow these Terms, and you are paid in credits, not money. We may remove games or reverse sales that involve fraud or break these Terms.

10. Projects, bots and developers

A project that uses Nookara sign-in must ask for specific permissions, which you approve or decline. A project can only act for whoever is signed in to it. It can't read or change other people's accounts, apart from the public profile information described in the Privacy Policy. These checks are enforced on our servers.

PermissionWhat it allows
View basic profileYour username, rank, badges, picture, bio and credit balance. It also lets the project see other users' public profiles, including the full profile of users who limited theirs to friends
View sensitive infoYour email address, sign-in sessions and linked accounts
Modify settingsUpdate your profile and account settings
Read / write storageRead or save that project's data on your account

Chat and EmberUse Ember servers, channels and DMs for you
VoiceJoin voice for you
Sign messagesSign Ember messages with your account's key
Upload mediaUpload images, audio and video to your account

Projects are run by their developers, not by Nookara, so read their own policies. Misusing your Nookara account through a project can still lead to action against your account.

Bots and webhooks. Developers can create Ember bots and webhooks. A bot sees the messages and member information of the servers and channels it's added to, within the permissions it was given. Bot owners are responsible for their bots, must follow these Terms, must tell users what data their bot stores, and must not collect data their bot doesn't need. Bots in the public bot gallery are reviewed by staff and can be delisted or banned.

API rules. Follow these Terms and the documented API. Don't scrape, overload or get around permissions. We may rate-limit, restrict or revoke API access, project access or bot tokens at any time.

11. Your content and our intellectual property

Your content stays yours. You give Nookara a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, display and deliver your content as needed to run the service, including making previews, thumbnails and profile preview images and sending it to the people and servers you share it with. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies others already received, copies kept for legal or safety reasons, and backups until they expire.

Our property. The Nookara and Ember names, logos, designs and code belong to Ikelene. The License & Copyright page explains what you may do with them. Don't use our branding commercially without permission, and don't build a competing service from our code.

Copyright complaints. If you think something on Nookara infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with the work you own, a link to the content, your contact details and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't allowed. We may forward your notice to the user and remove the content. Repeat infringers lose their accounts.

Feedback. We can use ideas and suggestions you send us without paying you.

12. Availability, liability and indemnity

Nookara is provided "as is" and "as available", with no uptime guarantee and, as far as the law allows, without warranties. As far as the law allows, Nookara and Ikelene aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, lost data, or anything caused by other users, projects, bots, self-hosted Ember servers or third-party services.

Our total liability to you for anything related to Nookara is limited to the greater of $50 CAD and the amount you paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the claim. You agree to cover our reasonable losses from claims caused by you breaking these Terms or someone else's rights. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Changes. We may update these Terms. For material changes, we show the new version when you next sign in and ask you to accept it before you continue, and we also email accounts that have an email address (banned or suspended accounts may not get these emails). The version and effective date at the top always show what's current.

Ending. You can stop using Nookara and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your account, or access to any feature, if you break these Terms or if we need to for legal or safety reasons. If we close Nookara or Nookara Pro for reasons that aren't your fault, we'll give reasonable notice where we can and refund any unused, prepaid Pro time.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Alberta. To the extent the law allows, claims must be brought individually, not as part of a class action.

Your local rights. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the laws of the place where you live that can't be waived by agreement, including consumer-protection and privacy rights.

General. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the License page and, for server operators, the Ember Server Operator Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Nookara. If we don't enforce something right away, we can still enforce it later. You can't transfer your account or these Terms to someone else; we may transfer them if Nookara changes hands, and we'll tell you if that happens.

Translations. These Terms are available in English, German and Portuguese. If a translation and the English version differ, the English version prevails.
