Storage

Looking for a BlockDB alternative?

If you're looking for a different way to store data from a TurboWarp or PenguinMod project, Nookara keeps it in the player's own account. That means saves follow them to any device, and nobody else can read or overwrite them.

Storage blocks

set storage ID to idset key key to value in storageget value of key keykey key exists in storagedelete key key from storageget all keys from storage

Set a storage ID for your project once, then save and load keys like variables. The storage information blocks tell you how much room is left:

storage usage (characters)storage limit (characters)storage remaining (characters)

More than a database

The same extension also does sign-in, chat, friends, private messages, credits, achievements and voice chat - so you don't need a separate extension for each.

Moving your project over

  1. Add the Nookara extension and a sign-in with the Read Storage and Write Storage permissions.
  2. Set a storage ID when the project starts.
  3. Swap your save / load blocks for Nookara's storage blocks.

More detail is in cloud game data for Scratch.

Questions

Where is the data stored?

On Nookara, in the signed-in player’s account, split by the storage ID your project sets.

How much can I store?

Free accounts get 5 MB of storage (Nookara Pro gets more). The storage blocks report usage, the limit and what’s left.

Do players need an account?

Yes - storage belongs to a player, so they sign in with Nookara first. That’s also what stops other people from reading or changing their data.
