Cross-project authentication for Scratch mods
Scratch mods like TurboWarp and PenguinMod run each project on its own, so a player who signs into one game is a stranger to the next. Nookara fixes that: one account the player uses everywhere, with each project getting its own limited access.
How it works
- Your project asks to sign in with a project name and a permissions integer.
- Nookara shows the player a popup: your project's name and exactly what it wants.
- The player approves, and your project gets a token for that project and those permissions only.
- The player sees every project in their account, and can revoke any of them.
Sharing progress between projects
Storage lives on the player's account, split up by a storage ID you choose. Two projects that use the same storage ID read and write the same keys - so a sequel can see what the player did in the first game.
Things that follow the player
- Their username, profile picture and accent colour.
- Friends and instant messages.
- Credits, achievements and badges.
Start with the login guide, then read the developer docs for the security rules projects follow.
Questions
Can two of my projects see the same player?
Yes. The player signs in with the same Nookara account in both, so you get the same username and account in each.
Can a project see everything about a player?
No. Each project only gets the permissions the player approved for it, and the player can revoke any project from their account.
Can projects share saved data?
Yes, storage belongs to the player’s account. Use the same storage ID in each project to read and write the same data.
